Fulfilling Our Founder's Vision Since 1882
The Knights of Columbus insurance program was born from a vision of compassion. When our founder, Blessed Michael J. McGivney, saw Catholic families left destitute after the death of their breadwinner, he resolved to create a system of support.
This mission began with a simple act of fraternity—the first Knights "passed the hat" to care for widows and orphans. That foundational act of charity remains the bedrock of our organization. Today, that simple gesture has evolved into a premier financial services organization, yet our purpose has never wavered. We are proud to fulfill Father McGivney's vision by shielding nearly 1.5 million policyholders with more than $83 billion of top-rated insurance in force. Our dedicated field force of over 1,400 agents—all of them brother Knights—continues this legacy by providing members with the tools they need to ensure their family's security.
